Diary of Rachel Dustwater Chapter 6!

Hi, sorry I haven't posted in awhile. I have been so busy with my birthday fun! I'm having my party on Sunday, and I'm really excited.
But for now, let's see chapter 6 of Diary of Rachel Dustwater.

December 2, 1876
We pulled aside by the horse watering station so the horses could get a nice long drink.
Today was a special day, the day where we stop to see Mam maw.
Mam maw always gave me a treat when we came to visit. One time she gave me a porcelain doll that looked just like me.
I smiled as I listened to the splashing noise of the horses drinking the water and I wondered what treat Mam maw would give me this time.
“Come on, Lassie. You had a long enough drink.” I heard Pa stopping the horses. I encouraged them to stop too, because we were only a matter of miles away from Mam maw’s ranch.
Finally we got there. I jumped up and down and kept yelling, “Hurry up, guys!” until they knocked on the door.
I waited impatiently and about 30 seconds later Mam maw opened the door.
“Mam maw!” I yelled happily and ran over to hug Mam maw.
“Hey, Rachel you didn’t forget about my special treat? Did you?” she said.
“No way!” I said and ran inside, excited.
“ Here you go.” said Mam maw and I ran over to see what she had.
It was a locket. I opened it up and it had a picture of Mam maw and I the last time we saw each other.
I gave Mam Maw a big hug and said “I love it! I’ll keep this forever!”
“You all look cold. Here’s another present for all of you,” said Mam maw.
She spread a beautiful, hand knitted blanket out on the floor for all of us.
“Thank you so much!” Ma, Pa and I all said together. “No problem. I get bored in the winter, because I can’t harvest my crops,” said Mam maw
“That’s right!” said Ma, surprised. “How were crop sales this year?”
“Not so good, Linda,” said Mam maw. “Raised about 50 buckaroos this year.” “That’s it?” said Ma in surprise.
I didn’t find this subject very interesting so, I looked at my locket to pass the time.
Soon it was time to set off again. I said bye to Mam maw and realized that I wasn’t as sad as I usually was when I left Mam maw. I thought maybe that I had something to look forward to, so it wasn’t as bad.
I sat happily along the way, ready for adventure.

I'll put up a new poll about it and renew the "How Accurate is Rachel Dustwater?" poll. I should have done that earlier. Sorry!
Anyhow, with all of the excitement going on lately, I haven't had time to do Rachel at all. I feel really guilty about it and swear to do it as soon as possible.
This is another one of the goals that I want to acheive.

Keep on writing,
Chrissy
