First chapter of Diary of Rachel Dustwater

Ok, here goes the first real chapter of Diary of Rachel Dustwater. Enjoy!

November 27, 1876
It was autumn. The brightly colored leaves had fallen from the trees and the dust covered road was drenched with them.
I, Rachel Dustwater sat on a pile of leaves and watched the many carriages go by and leaving dust puffs behind them. It was so busy, because it was the day before thanksgiving. I didn’t get to go to my Mam maw’s house like all of the others, because my Pa had been trying to find a job and my parents were very busy looking through jobs and trying to find the best one for Pa.
I sat there, lonely as ever until Ma came up to me and asked, “Why are you so sad?” I told her why and she gave me big hug. “Rachel, I know you’re sad about not going to Mam maw’s, but we can have our own thanksgiving feast too.”
“I guess,” I mumbled and Ma gave me another big hug.
Then I was alone again. Left with thoughts about thanksgiving and the new job, I decided to go inside and rest by the fire.

How was it? I'll post another poll today. Here are the ruslts for my last poll about my intro.
I liked it a lot got 75%. Yay! I'm so glad you guys liked it! It was good got 25%. Still good. The terrible other two got zero votes. Yay! Since only three people voted on the poll, there weren't many results, which is Ok for now!
I'll post a new poll about this first chapter in the left corner of this my blog, so get on voting!
Now, time for today's tip! Have fun with it! Whether your book is sad, happy, dramatic, or silly, you should always be pleased with your work and be proud that you thought of all of that stuff on your own!

Keep on writing,
Chrissy
